Mission Impossible
Jacky’s father taught him his earliest lessons on synergy. There is a Lao Tzu proverb that his father would often quote, “If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime”. He would remind Jacky, “Synergistic partnerships build resilience that is sustainable.” Jacky’s precepts on synergy are largely based on a mindset of sharing and empowerment.
No one can go at anything alone. Instead, build on each other’s strengths and compensate for one another’s weaknesses. Jacky shares, “We can achieve a lot more together and collectively benefit a larger and wider community. This is a win-win-win (1+1=5) synergy for impact and one effective way to achieve this is through joint-ventures.”

Read about Qi Yuan, an NGO that, through a joint-venture with SPB, runs a home for retired Buddhist monks, the first of its kind in Malaysia. What started a couple of years ago with three bungalow units has grown to ten today, with a convention hall in the works.
